The latest Fairway Golf Group holiday took place from 28th April‐5 May. Our base for the week was the beautiful Vila Gale Albacora situated about 2 miles from centre of Tavira, a really beautiful hotel in a quiet but lovely location.
The clients meet up on Sunday Night for Welcome drinks followed by 3 course Buffet meal, this is where the host Sean Coyle can go through all the itinerary for the week, it was really nice to meet some new clients to the Fairway family, who were all really nice and settled in great.
The first day of the trip was a new venue for the Fairway Group at Castro Marim, a really nice design but a little difficult for some of the clients with long carries over water from the tee. The ladies individual for the day was won by Pat McAlhone, with John Robertson taking the Men’s competition
Day 2 of the week was again played in glorious sunshine and perfect for golf, the venue was Benamor were the players can open there shoulders a little which after tough first day was great for the clients, Ann Seabrook took the spoils for the ladies with John Robertson keeping up his good form to win the Men’s. The Yellow ball team event was won by Anne Seabrook, John Robertson, John Cragg, & Keith Weddle.
As is tradition on Fairway Groups, Wednesday is rest day when players can either do a bit of sunbathing, sightseeing or play some more golf, with the weather being so warm, think most clients took up the first option, the beauty of this hotel was a small jetty boat took you over to a small island in 5 minutes that was a really lovely place to spend a few hours
Third day was again played in beautiful sunshine at client favourite Quinta de Cima, I have to say the condition of the course especially the fairways was some of the best I have come across I the Algarve, Cima is always a tough course because of its length and often tight fairways. John Robertson made it a hatrick of day wins in the Men’s competition, with Pat McAlhone winning the ladies, The Mixed pairs event on the day went to Keith Weddle & John Robertson.
Final golf day of the week was at Quinta da Vale, Seve design course with plenty of water to avoid especially on front 9.Final day is longest drive and nearest the pin for both Ladies & Men’s. Longest drive for the ladies went to Jean Oates who made it a nice double by also taking the Nearest the Pin. Longest drive for the men went to Ricky Cannons with nearest the pin going to John Robertson. Pat McAlhone made it a hatrick of wins in the ladies individual, with Drew Beattie taking the Menís competition
As with all Fairway Groups once the golf is over the players have a nice rest day to get themselves ready for the Gala Presentation Dinner, I must say the ladies looked fantastic after a hard week in the sun lol. The ladies overall prize went to Pat McAlhone, the Men’s overall went John Robertson, thank you to all the clients for a great week. Our next trip is the Algarve Championship from 26th October-2nd November(details on home page) 5th-12th November.
